Fastpitch Softball:

HYPE promotes health and wellness in young women through our fastpitch softball teams.  Our goal is to build elite young ladies, both on and off the field. We teach our young women the importance of discipline; community service; balanced, healthy diet and living; mental and physical strength; and how all these work together in sports and in life.

The mission for HYPE Fastpitch is to teach our girls to respect the game, their teammates, and coaches, which requires dedication, commitment and desire for more. Our girls learn what it means to be a team player, not only on the playing fields, but in all aspects of their lives.

The goal of our program is not only to teach these girls to be competitive, hard working athletes, but also well rounded, respectful contributors to society. We promote athleticism, academic excellence, and volunteerism.

About Our Team:

HYPE Fastpitch  is based out of Gallatin, Tennessee. Our teams are sanctioned to play in USSSA fastpitch, ASA, and UFSA organizations. We practice at our indoor facility, The HYPE House, during the winter months, and at fields in Gallatin when we are getting in the dirt.  Our tournament schedules vary from team to team, but we play everywhere in Middle TN as well as surrounding states.

The girls who play with our club have an ultimate goal of playing at the collegiate level.  In order to be seen by college coaches, the girls need to play in front of them.  Many schools and leagues will host exposure opportunities, but they are very costly. Your donation will also allow us to take our team to exposure tournaments, camps and clinics.

How can you help young female athletes in Sumner County?

How does my donation help the team?

We have girls who want to play for our club but are not able to make the financial commitment.  Many times, these are excellent athletes who need training at the next level, but because their families cannot afford the cost of the team or the travel, they are not able to commit.  Cases like these are heartbreaking for a coach, especially when we know that the girls have a future in the sport, they just need the training and exposure.

When someone donates to the team, they can choose to sponsor a player to help reduce the fees for that player.  Each season, we build in ‘facility and equipment fees’ into the cost per player, but this usually is just enough to cover the bare minimum.

Team donations will allow us to provide higher quality equipment necessary to train the girls at the elite level.  Team donations will also cover the cost of new helmets, catching gear, bat bags, and balls.  We currently have a need for a new pitching machine because ours was purchased by a parent on the team, and it is worn out.  A quality machine can cost near $3,000 but they will last a long time.

We plan to play in one exposure tournament this spring, but the cost will be around $600, plus the cost of travel.  Some of our parents make the financial commitment so their daughters can play but they are not able to afford the extra camps and clinics.  Donations to HYPE Fastpitch will allow us to help with some of the costs of the camp/clinic so the girls can get the exposure they need

How do our athletes give back to Sumner County?

Community Service is a requirement for HYPE Fast Pitch team members.

  •  During the Christmas season, our girls and their families participated in HYPE’s Christmas for Kids, to help provide gifts for kids in the community who were in need.
  •  Over the summer, our girls participated in a Sports4All children’s clinic, a fundraiser to provide scholarships for deserving children in the community.
  • Check back for updates on the new community service projects this year in which the girls will participate!

Our Coaches

Ashley Jones

Coach

Coach Ashley Jones is an Arizona native, who grew up playing fast pitch softball.  Ashley, at the young age of 10, committed herself to working hard to reach her goal of one day playing college softball.  Ashley was coached for many years by one of Arizona’s best (as a player and a coach), Jodi Pruitt.  Coach Pruitt taught Ashley about work ethic and dedication to the sport, as well as teaching her many life lessons.

Ashley went to Agua Fria High School where she earned 4 varsity softball letters and various district awards.  While in high school, Coach Pruitt took Ashley under her wing to teach her, not only to be the best catcher she could be, but also about coaching young women and how to push them to be their best.

After high school, Ashley went to Glendale Community College to play for two years and then transferred to Cumberland University where she played two years and finished her softball career as a graduate assistant coach in 2006.  Since graduating, Ashley has held assistant coaching positions at the high school level, as well as had the opportunity to coach the catchers and hitters at MTSU for one season in 2007.

Ashley took several years away from softball in order to start her career and her family but was blessed with the opportunity to reignite her passion for the sport in 2015.  After being an assistant coach for one year, Ashley became the head coach of a 12u team with a different organization.  Then, with the help of her husband Josh Jones and assistant Coach Chris Walker, decided to create  a team that could represent HYPE mentoring and all that the organization stood for.

HYPE Fast pitch had a very successful first year and the coaching staff has learned many valuable lessons along the way.  Ashley has a special bond with her players and students both on and off the field.  She strives to push the young ladies to be the very best versions of themselves and she thrives on seeing them excel in all aspects of life.  Coach Ashley expects her players to work hard because nothing worth having comes easy, and she knows with hard work comes big rewards.  We are excited for the season to start so we are able to see all the winter training and conditioning put into action when we get into the dirt.
